IASC Learning Package on Protection from Sexual Misconduct for UN partner organizations
‘Saying No to Sexual Misconduct’ is an interactive and innovative learning package that aims to raise awareness among IASC partner staff and ensure they have the skills and tools to define, detect and respond to sexual misconduct.
This one-day in-person training uses case studies, testimonies, group discussions, creative team and role-play activities, powerful videos and thought-provoking questions to promote dialogue and learning.

This self-directed ecourse provides the basic steps a humanitarian worker must take to ensure gender equality in programming. The course includes information on the core issues of gender and how it relates to other aspects of humanitarian response, including camp management and coordination, education, food issues, gender-based violence, health, livelihoods, non-food items, protection, shelter, water, sanitation, and hygiene. Participants respond to a hypothetical, virtual disaster, solve real-life problems, and learn why gender should be a priority in humanitarian action in the self-paced, interactive course.
What is the purpose of the course?
The 3-5 hour course provides practical approaches on how to ensure that the needs of women, girls, boys and men are being met in humanitarian situations, as well as ensuring their full participation in all aspects of humanitarian programming.

IASC e-learning on Gender Equality in Humanitarian Action
This training provides introductory guidance – through information and practical examples – on the fundamentals of applying a gender-equality approach across all stages of the humanitarian programming cycle.
Based on the content of the IASC’s 2017 Gender Handbook for Humanitarian Action, it is intended for all humanitarian staff from UN, NGOs, government and civil society looking for an introduction on how to integrate gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls in the assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of humanitarian programming.

Emergency Team Leadership Programme (ETLP)
The IASC Emergency Team Leadership Programme (ETLP) enhances the effectiveness of participants in their roles as emergency team leaders in disaster response and humanitarian settings. At the request of the IASC, UNHCR serves as the programme’s administrator and institutional home.
The ETLP focuses on the leader’s emotional intelligence, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills in the context of leading diverse and multi-functional disaster and humanitarian response teams. Key themes include leadership self-awareness, situational leadership, influence without authority, win-win negotiation approach, conflict resolution, coaching, delegation and decision-making in emergencies. All ETLP learning activities, discussions and presentations are contextualized to reflect humanitarian emergency environments, challenges and scenarios. Due to the special Covid-19 related circumstances, the topic of leading teams remotely will also be addressed.
Key themes addressed in the programme include “emotional intelligence,” “situational leadership,” “collaborative negotiation,” “decision-making in emergencies,” “team care/trust building” and “coaching.” All ETLP learning activities, discussions and presentations are contextualized to reflect humanitarian emergency environments, challenges and scenarios.
Designed as a blended-learning programme, the ETLP consists of:
- pre-workshop phase with self-assessments, peer feedback and relevant readings
- week-long face-to-face residential workshop
- post-workshop learning activity including facilitator coaching.
